Marathon 41 - Gothenburg (Sweden) "The one that summed up the spirit of the challenge"
Today was a real metaphor for this whole challenge. This was because it was about the team. It was about the support of people, the european community and helping a bearded man with a dodgy leg work towards a goal.
Me and Noel were lucky enough to get put up by the incredibly generous Ann-Sofie Barnevik Andersson & Thomas. They made us food, provided accomodation and planned and ran/cycled the entire marathon with me.
There support made a massive difference in me being able to focus on what's important. Of ticking off another marathon and moving one step closer to Sunday.
As we set off the slow start picked up and I tried to make the most of it. The last few days have been a real struggle managing my injury so to get in to a real rythem with no stops etc meant me and Thomas got the job done. I even did a little interview after for a local newspaper, despite the fact a couple of ducks tried to join us to have their say.
The last photo of my left knee shows the sub 4 today doesn't mean things have been solved but more that with the support and positivity of others I'm finding a way to get through one day at a time.
We're now sadly left Ann-Sofie & Thomas despite trying to convince them to come with us all the way to the end. A big well done to Noel Halligan today too who completed his attempt to run 100 miles over his time supporting me so the boy done good.
We're now on a 3 hour bus to Oslo in Norway for a early 6am start for marathon number 42 tomorrow. One day a time........
